The Northern Students’ Forum (NSF), Obafemi Awolowo University is a community of students from nineteen (19) states that made up the three geopolitical zones in the country, namely, North-Central, North-West and North-East, who are proud of their northern heritage, tired of the stultifying effects of tribal stereotypes, and invests passionately in the capacity building of their members and above all, are committed to the values of national unity, integration and development.a
The Forum came to be as a result of a burning desire to puncture the age long myths of “northern singularity, backwardness, and extremism” among other half-truths perpetuated ignorantly or maliciously by certain persons or group of persons-and to sensitize youths, especially of northern origin, on opportunities, developments and responsibilities in our commonwealth.
The Forum (NSF) has successfully leveraged (and is leveraging) on the societal demands within the university community through the outlets of intense academic packages and various sociocultural programmes in a continuous strive to coach the leaders of this instant generation.
NSF also strives at encouraging and promoting the spirit of brotherliness among members and the improvement of their welfare condition in order to ensure their positive contributions as future leaders to the economic, political, social and cultural state of the University Community and the nation at large.
